Dear friend,
What would this world be like without light at all? Then, it must be all darkness with nothing to be seen as we all know what happen when there is a black out in a city at night. We now know that white light is made up of the rainbow colours, each with its own unique focal length. The human eyes with a limited ability can only see within a certain range. Beyond which, the light appears as darkness to man as well. To be without light means the best of eyes also cannot see anything, not because there is nothing, but because there is no light to reflect these things for the eyes to see. Things are there and the properties of these things are all intact, even if there is no living being to perceive and appreciate any of these properties, of these profound ideas and words behind these things! What a pathetic state of affairs. And how blind are those who think that this state of affair needs to wait for a chance introduction of the first life form and the billion years of its evolution, before there is a living being to appreciate the wonders of this universe!!! But how hard it must be for any being to appreciate this universe without light. In fact, one wonders if there can even be life without light.
"The entrance of thy words giveth light." (Psa. 119:130) The light mentioned here is more than the physical light. It is the light that enables men to see, to understand, to live aright. If you want this light you must let the words of God enter your heart. Yet, it is not a matter of your letting, but of God commanding. "God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (2Co. 4:6) When God commands the entrance of His Word in your heart, you have life and light. "The Word was God. In him was life; and the life was the light of men." (Joh. 1:1, 4)
Light is given to us not for us to play with it, but to walk in it, to live according to it, to have fellowship with each other with it. "If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." (1Jo. 1:7) Christian fellowship in this world is not without the cleansing of sins. Let us be humble and live penitently with each other. "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. — Ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you." (Psa. 119:11; Joh. 15:3)
Our calling as Christians is clearly taught in Scriptures: "Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. — Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." (Eph. 5:8; 1Pe. 2:9)
