Dear friend,
Singing and hearing a song is an emotional experience, if one sings and hears well. God wants us to "sing with the spirit, and .. with the understanding also." (1Co. 14:15) This means to sing well, to sing with feelings and proper emotions.
If we would serve the Lord effectively, we must also grow in our singing good songs to each other and to ourselves. "Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. — Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Eph. 5:18, 19)
To praise is to express emotionally and truthfully deep appreciation of the object of praise. There is knowledge and delight in such an object. When God's people finally arrive in perfection, they will sing the praises of Jehovah their God with one voice of unity and perfect harmony. He is indeed worthy to be praise and none else.
"Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God." (Psa. 147:1, 7)
"I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder; and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps." (Rev. 14:2)
