Dear friend,
Truth is what is and not what it appears to be. What appears to be may not be what is because to different people, what is may appear differently. Thus, there are many misunderstanding in this world of sins and imperfection.
Jesus is the Word of God become flesh. He is the Truth. (Jon. 14:6) The words that He speaks to us, "they are spirit, and they are life." (Joh. 6:63) Only with such word of truth can we me born again into the Kingdom of God to possess life. (Jas. 1:18)
While the spirit of the Word gives life, It's "letter killeth." (2Co. 3:6) Letters are just written symbols of sounds used for communication of thoughts and ideas among people who have a common understanding of their meanings. Sometimes due to imperfect signaling the message can become meaningless. Our modern SMS (short messages sent through the mobile phone) is a good example. Our young people have all kinds of invention to pass their messages with short forms that we older people cannot understand what they are writing. The meaning behind those messages is the most important thing and not what it may appear to be. "The letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." Here we are not suggesting that there is no place for the most accurate representation of the truth in symbolic languages, which may require linguists to formulate for us rather than our ordinary young people. In ordinary life, SMS will do, so long as the truth is communicated finally and effectively. There are many saints of God who enjoy sweet communion with the Lord, but are no experts in accurately communicating what they experience in real life. They have the word of life and not of the letter.
Christ loved the church and gave himself for her, not that He might teach hem how to, but that "he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wirnkle, or any such thing." (Eph. 5:25-27) If teaching and learning do not end up in cleansing and sanctifying, it is not the work of Christ.
"Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Thy word hath quickened me. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. I will not forget thy word. I trust in thy word. The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way." (Psa. 119:9, 50, 11, 16, 42, 72, 93, 103, 104)
