Comment on Evening March 04 of "Daily Light on Daily Path"

 

 

Dear friend,

 

For an animal to bow its shoulder, it means to get ready to bear the yoke and carry the burden. When the chosen of the Lord heard Him say, "Come unto me, .. Take my yoke .." (Mat. 11:28), he "bowed his shoulder to bear." (Gen. 49:15) Let's how we know one another and ourselves as we meet each other in the course of our pilgrimages.

 

We, as brethren in our Lord Jesus Christ, are partakers of Christ's anointing and therefore bear the same yoke and do have something in common among us. "Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience." (Jas. 5:10) This is the affliction of the yoke, which the Lord said "is easy, and ... light." (Mat. 11:28)

 

The shape of the yoke which harness two animals to plow together, looks like a "cross". When a Christian bow next to His Lord to do the work, He is much thrilled and all ready to go. All who had ever plowed together with Him, can say, I'm sure, that they would never want to be anywhere else. The yoke-experience is like the participation in the race of the Lord - every one of them is so good.

 

As we are being afflicted serving Him, we must learn to "cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee." (Psa. 55:22) In the Cross surely "he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows." (Isa. 53:4) All the penalty of our sins are fully paid for at Calvary. We never have any of such burden to bear in service to the Lord. Our service to Him is one of gratitude and thankfulness. Even that service we performed with our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

The Chinese word for "Ten" also shape like a "cross", just like the "yoke". The Ten Commandments bring us to the knowledge of our sins and miseries. They also direct us in the service of thankfulness. They are the laws of liberty!
