Dear friend,
We need the everlasting mercy of God. Some so-called Christians think that they only need the initial mercy of God, and after that they should be able to make it themselves with God's mercy and faithfulness to His covenant. If God's storehouse of mercy is limited, then none of us would have any hope of eternal life. Often in His love for us, He chastens us very severely because of our sins and foolishness. At such time we often cry out, "Is his mercy clean gone for ever?" (Psa. 77:8)
When we ask, He makes us aware of His Word: "His mercy endureth for ever. — The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy. — Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity? ... he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sin into the depths of the sea. — Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us." (Psa. 136:23; Num. 14:18; Mic. 7:18,19; Tit. 3:5)
He is "the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort" (2Co. 1:3, 4) so that we might be comforted in this valley of tears where we do face tribulation and much troubles at times. He comforts us that we might be able to comfort others around us. Blessed are Christians who are always thinking of giving to others, for it is "more blessed to give than to receive", according to the Word of our Lord. (Act 20:35)
How worthy are you, of youself, to receive all the blessings from the Lord?
