Comment on Evening March 03 of "Daily Light on Daily Path"

 

 

Dear friend,

 

In our Chinese orientated funeral wake, we often finds objects displayed on the table in front of the coffin reminding kind visitors of the deceased, besides his lifeless body, of course. There are reasons why these objects, and not the many others, are selected. We should be careful not to busy the bereaved with many questions about them, but let them explain to us, if they wish, what they are all about in their own ways and at their own time.

 

If, on such a table of a great athlete, who had won many prizes (local, national and international ones) all through his life, you find only a simple token displayed acknowledging the entrance and completion to an unknown race of this man, you are tempted to ask what is so special about this race, in comparison to others, that those responsible should select it.

 

All true believers in glory (if they have a say and are able to display it), would certain agree that the selection is only right one, provided it speaks of "The prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus". (Phi. 3:14) All trophies and crowns fade into insignificance before such a divine prize, even if it be without any position of grandeur.

 

Beloved, do you know how blessed it is for a person to be even selected for such a race? This is a very unique race in which all details of what happened to every participant speak of the great, wondrous grace of God. The greatest thing is this universe is to hear the praise of it's Mighty Creator. No One, but Himself, can properly sing this praise. And He is pleased to sing of Himself as the God of our Salvation. There are so many ways to sing His praise. The life of every chosen child of God is a way He sings His Own Praise. And, they are so good!

 

No one is in this race who are not in Christ Jesus. This is a "high calling of God in Christ Jesus". It is the highest honour to be in Christ Jesus - selected! Jesus prayed for His people: "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou has given me." (Joh. 17:24) Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Christian race, our Christian faith.

 

What will it be: "Fought a good fight!", "Completed!", etc. ?
