Dear friend,
God our Heavenly Father is rich in every sense of the word, but we are poor and needy. How does His riches come to His poor children in this world? He became poor that we through His poverty might become rich.
How many of rich people are willing to become poor in this world? How do rich people live and how do the poor live? Would any be willing? Our Lord Jesus was the lord of Heaven where even the highest angels would have to bow before Him in service. What does it mean for Him to become a servant in this world? He humbled himself and became a man, and as a man became a servant, and as a servant died the accursed death of capital punishment! Most, if not all, of us are never so poor as our Lord Jesus when He was on earth. He was the richest Who willingly became poor for us. What a wonder!!! So unlike us, proud people by nature.
His motive was not His own glory, for, as God, nothing more glorious can be added to what He already has. His motive was that we through His poverty might be made rich. That is how God's riches come to us poor sinners. Can we accept His way of doing things? If so, are we willing to follow His example, since we claim to be His followers?
The recipients of God's riches are not all men in this world, but only those who are chose of Him. And He chose the poor of this world, rich in faith, to be the heirs of His grace of life. Blessed are the poor for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world of lusts. Are you and I named among the blessed of our Father in Heaven?
