Daily Light on Daily Path

Dear friend,
All through life we seek for comfort to our whole being. This is natural. Take for example, when you are sleeping, unknown to you, you do move from position to position seeking the most comfortable position to rest. It would be most unnatural for a man to seek the most uncomfortable position for his physical body when finding rest. This is true to other aspect of a man being - when he wants rest in that area, he seek comfort there. Give a man a place of comfort and watch him sleep like a baby.

The heart of man can also be very troubled and need such a comfort. "Our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts." The Triune God is our place of comfort. Blessed are those who find thiis place in Him. He is the God of our salvation. "It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord." The Lord in sanctiying us train us to "hope" and to "wait" - to do the "good" thing that brings comfort.

"Trial" and "tribulation" are what God send us to train us in life. "We glory in tribulations: ... knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope." Through trials and temptations, we come to know that we "have in heaven a better and an enduring substatnce" than what we can ever have here on earth. For those who know, the "trial of your faith" is "much more precious than of gold that perisheth". Now we understand how "thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me."

Trials and temptations through life should teach us patience. "Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." Are you always wanting this and that in life? How restless and unable to find a place of comfort you must have been. May God help you to find that spot in Him. Amen.

It would be a mistake if you simply  read the above without turning to the actual Word of God as we find them quoted with references for further studies in the Daily Light on Daily Path.
