Daily Light on Daily Path

Dear friend,

The year of our Lord, 2007, we call to remembrance the life of John Newton (1725-1807), the 200th Anniversary of his death. The name, "John Newton", is closely relatd to "Amazing Grace" not only because he wrote that song sung by most Christians, but also because the lyrics of the song reflect his real life experiences.

Indeed our God is the God of all grace as this morning Daily Light tells us. "All grace" does not mean that there are different kinds of "graces" of God in this world, as some believe. The Arminians used the then, unfamiliar term, "common grace", at Dort, to refer to the "glimmering lights" left after the Fall. So, with different ideas of the "grace" of God, Christians are to day less appreciative of God's Amazing Grace of God, as found in Scriptures. The grace of God that is always celebrated by God's people is the "grace that saved a wretched like me". The kind of God's grace that does not save is not worthy of that name.

The grace of God is a sovereign grace - "will be gracious to whom I will be gracious". God saves whom He wills by His grace. A grace for all is no grace of God.

The grace of God has a "ransom" found in our Lord Jesus Christ. "Grace and truth came by Him.

God's grace follows us all the way to Heaven. He gives more grace as we go along. It is all of grace.

We must grow in grace and minister His grace to others in the spread of the Gospel.

You can read Scripture Verses on the above thoughts in the Daily Light this morning.

"Almighty and ever-living God, Who hast predestined unto glory a Church elected in Christ, we thy unworthy servants, in communion with the Church Triumphant above, continue to beseech Thee for the increase of Thy Holy Spirit in us, that being grounded in the abiding Baptism of Pentecost, assured of the triumphant advance of the Gospel, armed with the Sword of the Spirit, that is, Thy most holy Word and looking for the great and glorious appearing of the Son of Man, our blessed hope: the militant Church here on earth, the pillar and ground of the Truth, would ever contend for the faith once for all delivered unto the saints for the gathering, defence and preservation of the same Catholic Church in all ages; through the one and only Intercession of Our Lord Jesus. Amen" - Jason Loh of Penang.

Yours for Christ's Kingdom,
