Dear friend,
"He that winneth souls is wise." "They that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." (Dan 12:3) Are you a star? If so, let your light so shine before men. Be not ashamed of the light God has commanded to shine in you who are darkness by nature! Do not try to blow the flame out!
The stars in the night skies are many burning suns placed and fixed there by the Almighty for the purpose of giving light and thus of direction to those who look carefully at them in all their formations. This indeed, is a wonderful map given by God to those who know how to read it. "Trim your feeble lamp, my brother, some poor sailor tempest tossed, Trying now to make the harbor, in the darkness may be lost. Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor struggling, sinking sailor you may rescue, you may save." (Philip P. Bliss, 1871)
Wonderful things around us are often taken for granted and therefore the wonderful messages meant for us through them are often missed to our own loss and often detriment. But, sometimes, even with the keen eyes of the scientists, the most fundamental message is missed, revealing that men without God's grace is spiritually blind. By nature, all the five senses (or more?) can only detect what God has created and bring to pass, yet this revelation that He is Creator can be missed - wonder of wonders! "Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard."
In a spiritual way, are you shining for Christ? If you are, don't stop just because there are those "great men" who fail to see God in you. No, not that you are God, but that God truly works within you to bring to pass that glorius light that is shining in and through you. Our joy and strength lies in the praise of Jehovah and not of ourselves.
Can we shine and yet remain humbled and rejected of men in this world? Yes, but so what? To all those who are dead in Christ, all these are nothing and cannot move them.
May God command His light to "soshine" in you and me. Amen.
